San Diego Surf Inspired Session: Hannah and Casey

Casey asked, "Did we move to San Diego and become models?" and I replied while laughing with, "Yes, Casey, yes you did!" Let me back up: Hannah and Casey moved to San Diego from Milwaukee via San Antonio and to their surprise, really took to surfing! I have been wanting to shoot a surf inspired session and these two were the perfect models: FUN, in love, and willing to show me all of their bathing suits so we could pick out the best match!

Hannah and Casey, I'm so happy to have you in San Diego! Hannah, you know I can’t remember life without you HAHA! Can't wait to do this again ;) xo, Evmo

La Jolla Scripps Engagement Session: Melissa and Chris

To find a home away from home is quite special: Melissa, a California native and one time San Diego resident, found a ‘home’ with Chris in Chicago, where they are both medical students. Having braved countless classes, exams, and winters together, they are uniting their friends and family for a destination wedding in sunny San Diego! What better backdrop for their engagement session? A mix of land and sea…or beach, I should say! Melissa and Chris chose a classic San Diego beach session in La Jolla with Torrey Pines in the background. Scripps Beach is one of my personal favorites beaches in La Jolla because you walk and walk for what seems forever, and my favorite thing about these two: they are FUN! Melissa and Chris are all smiles and laughs!

Melissa and Chris, I am SO excited to be documenting your wedding this upcoming fall! I love your positive energy and infectious laughter! xo - Evelyn

Valle De Guadalupe Engagement: Lala and Frank

Frank and Lala, lovers of food, wine, travel, are very proudly Mexican with a love and respect for the country’s history, culture, and traditions. They are foregoing a traditional wedding for - brace yourself - 7 weddings in 7 continents over the next 7 years, with the first being in San Miguel de Allende, so what would be the best place to travel to that combines all that they love and serve as the perfect backdrop to their engagement session? Valle de Guadalupe in Baja, Mexico, just south of the San Diego/ Tijuana border. Valle, as I call it, is a special place: the people are warm, the food is to die for, and I personally feel an inner peace every time I arrive and spend time there.

Hosting 30 friends at Hotel Boutique Valle de Guadalupe for an engagement celebratory weekend, Lala and Frank knew this is where they wanted to be documented. On their hotel grounds and in between vines, they had me cracking up with their infectious laughs! These two are absolutely in love and I cannot wait to see all of their weddings unfold! - Evelyn

Balboa Park Engagement: Kristen and Justin

Kristen and Justin: amazingly warm, uber classy, all smiles, and romantics! Completely heartwarming, Justin proposed at a location to their home in San Diego so that they could visit this place over and over again in their future. As San Diego residents, Balboa Park made the perfect iconic backdrop for their engagement session that will soon be followed by their wedding at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, followed with a gorgeous reception at the San Diego Botanic Gardens!

Kristen and Justin, I cannot wait to document your day! I'm looking forward to every detail we talked about! xo, Evelyn

Little Italy San Diego Engagement: Sarah and Martin

Love is embracing things the person you love holds close to their heart. Sarah loves Easter: springtime, the pastel colors, and flowers have always brought her so much excitement and joy. When the time was right for Martin to propose to Sarah, he tied in her love for this holiday by taking her on an Easter egg hunt for a ring in their apartment. She, of course, said yes!

Martin, once again, embraced one of Sarah's loves at their engagement session: you see, Sarah loves James Coffee Co. in Little Italy. When we decided to have this coffee shop be part of the backdrop for their engagement session, I incorrectly assumed that they both love coffee. No, in fact, Martin doesn't drink coffee but was open to the idea because Sarah beams when he holds her hand and they are recapping their day, and she has her coffee.

Sarah and Martin, you two are so much fun and the absolute cutest! I love that you are both so thoughtful with each other and I cannot wait to photograph your wedding this fall! I will be multitasking on the dance floor -  jamming out and taking photos at the same time - as that band gets down! xoxo, Evelyn
